Spanish language characterization
Spanish and Italian languages share a very similar phonological system and do not differ very much in grammar, vocabulary and morphology. Speakers of both languages can communicate relatively well: at present, the lexical similarity with Italian is estimated at 82%. As a result, Spanish and Italian are mutually intelligible to various degrees. Spanish is mutually intelligible with French and with Romanian to a lesser degree (lexical similarity is respectively 75% and 71%). The writing systems of the four languages allow for a greater amount of interlingual reading comprehension than oral communication would.

English language
English is currently one of the most widely spoken and written languages worldwide, with some 380 million native speakers and over 500 millions non-native speakers. English is spoken by one out of every six people in the world. It is the primary language of 53 countries: the United States, the U.K., Australia, New Zealand and, partly, Canada and others. Of all the world's languages English is arguably the richest in vocabulary; and that the Oxford English Dictionary lists about 500,000 words, not including technical and scientific terms.
